A new Sexual Violence Review Board for Queensland
The Queensland Sexual Violence Review Board is a new board, and the first of its kind in Australia. It is part of our commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence. It will identify and review systemic issues relating to the reporting, investigating and prosecution of sexual offences in Queensland.
The board is established under the Victims’ Commissioner and Sexual Violence Review Board Act 2024. It will:
review government policy and practices
provide recommendations about systemic improvements
oversee the implementation of those recommendations
meet at least 4 times a year.
Applications are open from Monday 10 March 2025 and close on Monday 31 March 2025.

Applying for the Board
We are looking for people who reflect the social, cultural and linguistic diversity of the Queensland community. We welcome and encourage applications from:
Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people
people with disability
people who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+ community
women
people living in remote and regional Queensland.
Apply for a position on the board if you:
have professional experience and skills supporting victims of sexual violence
have professional experience and skills in dealing with sexual violence in Queensland’s court system
have lived experience of sexual violence
are a Torres Strait Islander person and/ or Aboriginal person with lived experience of sexual violence and/ or professional experience and skills supporting First Nations victims of sexual violence.
The board will be chaired by the Victims’ Commissioner.
Its members will also include:
the Police Commissioner (or delegate)
the Director of Public Prosecutions (or delegate)
public servants with qualifications in forensic medicine and/ or the court system in Queensland.

Requirements
Prior to appointment, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks including a criminal history check. Prospective members will be asked to consent to a check as part of this expression of interest process.

2. Statement of suitability (no more than two pages), outlining:
How you meet the eligibility criteria for appointment.
The relevant experience and expertise you have, and how these would contribute to the Board performing its functions.
