Our executive leadership team

Executive Director, Policy and Statutory Planning, SES

The Policy and Statutory Planning Division is responsible for providing streamlined and simplified legislative frameworks and overarching policies to support the improvement and operation of Queensland’s planning system.

The division focuses on driving creative and innovative approaches for simplifying the planning system; improving the regulatory and legislative environment; maintaining and improving the State Planning Policy and engaging and supporting stakeholders and other users of the system.

 

Your Responsibilities

As Executive Director, Policy and Statutory Planning, you will:

  • As a member of Planning Group’s Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the effective and collaborative leadership and direction of Planning Group in meeting its strategic objectives and legislative requirements.

  • Have extensive knowledge of the Queensland planning framework, planning and policy issues and the ability and experience to apply that knowledge to develop practical outcomes.

  • Provide direction and technical leadership on highly complex, confidential and significant legislative and land use policy matters, ensuring that recommended solutions and decisions are evidence and research based to inform the most appropriate course of action.

  • Ensure that the reputation and interests of the State are protected in a high public exposure environment through proactive risk management.

  • Have excellent consultation, engagement and conflict resolution skills.

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships, relationships, and networks with key stakeholders within other departments, local governments, the Commonwealth, the planning and development industry, community groups and relevant peak bodies.

Your team

We want you to be a part of a team that is making a difference. PSP leads the strategic policy for the Queensland planning framework and supports and integrates other departments’ policy implementation through land use planning. The team focuses collaboration and relationships to improve useability and transparency of the system. The team is also responsible for developing and managing the process rules and assessment framework to guide Queensland’s land use planning and development assessment system.
