People, Safety and Transformation

This role is accountable for providing high level strategic oversight of CS Energy’s People, Safety and Transformation Division which comprises the People and Culture, Health, Safety and Environment, Transformation and Business Improvement functions.

Core Accountabilities

    • Creates a culture focussed on health, process safety, personal safety and environmental sustainability excellence.

    • Proactively communicates the expectation for CS Energy to be ‘Safe to Run Every Day’, as a priority.

    • Initiates regular reviews of HSE performance with a focus on continual improvement.

    • Takes accountability to lead and improve process safety and HSE outcomes by effectively managing risks.

    • Escalates risks and compliance requirements to the Board.

    • Participates in strategic networks and external stakeholder groups to align HSE policy to best practice.

    • Accurately anticipates & analyses trends & risks to develop appropriate response.

    • Defines structure & resourcing requirements to deliver strategy & results.

    • Balances short term results with long term viability, growth & sustainability.

    • Represents CSE at industry forums to promote business presence & reputation.

    • Holds self to account for delivering results & utilising formal performance management processes to track, monitor & acknowledge individual performance contributions.

    • Promotes the creation of shared mission, vision, & values & uses those principles to guide actions.

    • Translates vision into action by inspiring others to act, while providing guideposts for decision-making & action.

    • Champions a culture of high performance where everyone is committed to & accountable for ongoing performance management & feedback.

    • Ensure the organisation's Employee Value Proposition (EVP) is effectively communicated and consistently delivered to attract, retain, and engage top talent.

    • Capitalises on both formal channels and informal networks, to achieve goals.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education & Certification

    Degree level qualifications in a relevant field such as human resources, occupational health, safety and environment, business or commerce related disciplines.

    Post graduate qualifications in management would be advantageous.

  • Experience

    Proven success in a key senior leadership role in the energy or other asset intensive industry.

    Demonstrated experience in developing and managing high performing multi disciplined teams at an executive level.

    Track record of formulating, leading and embedding positive change within complex organisations.

    Evidence of leading culture transformation programs which improve employee engagement and safety culture.

    Experience in leading business improvement programs to deliver better business outcomes.

    Ability to develop and execute strategy.

    Experience in driving strategy and leading Health and Safety and People and Culture practices in any high risk, human capital industrial environment.

    Extensive experience in industrial relations in a unionised environment.

    Strong business acumen, sound commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.

    Exceptional written and verbal communication and change management skills, with the ability to excel in a cooperative and collaborative team environment.

    Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice.

    Proven ability to embed effective safety beliefs and mindset across workforces at multiple work sites.
