About the role

The purpose of the Manager Retail Risk Management role is to support the oversight and application of effective financial risk, governance and compliance to CS Energy’s Retail C&I business, while supporting the business to meet its strategic and operational objectives.

 

Role Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Understanding the Retail C&I strategy and owning its implications for financial risk, governance and compliance.

  • Managing the new product approval process for Retail C&I products through collaboration with key stakeholders.

  • Leading development and management of the Market Risk Governance Framework and associated controls to ensure that risks associated with the Retail C&I business are effectively managed.

  • Strategic input into Energy and Financial Risk team’s strategy, including the development and application of financial risk appetite, to support CS Energy’s future asset portfolio.

  • Oversight of Retail regulatory compliance activities to ensure CS Energy’s obligations are met in a timely matter, including providing expert guidance on key matters.

  • A strong understanding of CS Energy’s Power Purchase Agreements and associated impacts on the risk, Trading and Retail books (where applicable).

  • A solid understanding of CS Energy’s Retail C&I agreements and associated impacts on the risk, Trading and Retail books (where applicable).

  • Validate retail load forecasting models (and updates to such models) to ensure positions are appropriately allocated to Wholesale Trading risk reports.

  • Oversight and endorsement of Retail transfer pricing for C&I customers to ensure compliance with CS Energy’s Retail Tender Governance and Transfer Pricing Standards.

  • Supporting implementation of a retail deal capture system to help drive effective management and governance of Retail customer data.

  • Active participation in the Market Risk Committee or Market Risk Operational Committee activities, where required, including the writing and presenting of risk-related papers, or providing valuable contribution to commercial papers.

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders to influence and ensure alignment with appropriate governance requirements.

  • Develop, coach & mentor team members and others (where appropriate) to build knowledge, skills and ability required now and into the future.

  • Other ad-hoc work as required to support the Head of Energy & Financial Risk.

 

What we are looking for

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in structured products, trading or risk roles with significant exposure to a Retail C&I business.

  • Familiarity with structured Retail C&I products.

  • Strong analytical skills with a good understanding of their application in energy markets modelling.

  • Ability to synthesise large amounts of information to determine next steps and prioritise efforts accordingly.

  • Proficiency in building partnerships with cross-functional teams to inform and influence.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, business writing and professional skills.

  • Excellent planning and organising skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of the operations and dynamics of the National Electricity Market.

  • Proven experience leading and developing others to deliver strategic outcomes and objectives.

You will also need:

  • Degree and preferably postgraduate qualifications in a commercial and/or quantitative discipline e.g. Economics, Finance, Commerce or Mathematics.
