General Manager, Digital Assurance

Position Purpose

The General Manager Digital Assurance plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of complex technology and business transformation initiatives within EQL.  The position is responsible for overseeing the assurance framework and methodology to safeguard the delivery of strategic technology programs. The position will be accountable to drive all key assurance activities including identification of areas for review and deep dives and sourcing external assurance providers to drive an end-to-end assurance program.

This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and Executive and Board stakeholder management capabilities to drive excellence in program assurance.

 

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement assurance strategies and methodologies tailored to the Digital Transformation program of work, ensuring alignment with Executive and Board expectations. This includes leading the design and implementation of robust assurance frameworks, methodology, and controls to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including the Digital division, program and project management, risk management, and business stakeholders to understand the clear accountabilities and ownership of program/project activities to drive the assurance program.

  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of the risks, issues, and dependencies for the program of work, providing timely insights and recommendations to the accountable Executives for effective decision-making.

  • Monitor program and projects including health status to track the progress and performance of the program of work, identifying areas for improvement and optimisation.

  • Lead the development and execution of assurance plans, including audits and reviews to validate the effectiveness of program controls and processes. This will include deep dives into areas of concern identified by the Executives, the Board, and the assurance program. This includes facilitating the sourcing and use of external assurance providers where required.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship across the business around assurance matters, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned from previous assurance activities to enhance future program delivery.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the accountable Executives and key stakeholders (including the Board) offering strategic insights, risk assessments, and recommendations to support informed decision-making and drive program success.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to technology transformation, incorporating relevant insights into program assurance strategies and practices.

  • Collaborates effectively managing information and confidentiality requirements across Energy Queensland Limited in accordance with applicable ring-fencing parameters. 

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to health, safety and environment and support a diverse and inclusive workplace.

  • Compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures and practices.

  • Ensuring alignment of the digital assurance program with Executive and Board expectations.

  • Provide independent and objective advice and reports to the EQL Board and CEO in relation to the digital assurance program, framework and processes and to identify gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement.

Chief Information Officer and Digital Transformation Director

  • Matrix reporting relationship with CIO and Digital Transformation Director on assurance matters relevant to the Digital Transformation program of work including strategic insights, risk assessments, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

Other Executive General Managers & General Managers/Work Groups              

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including the Digital division, program and project management, risk management, and business stakeholders to understand the clear accountabilities and ownership of program/project activities to drive the assurance program.

External Stakeholders     

  • Facilitating the sourcing and utilisation of external assurance providers to drive an end-to-end assurance program.
